Enterprises are increasing their use of video to help facilitate impactful and engaging corporate communications. Enterprise collaborations tools, such as Skype For Business and Slack and Conferencing tools such as TalkPoint and On24, and making video an integral part of their offering. Despite video’s clear value to the enterprise, it can’t be effective without the right video distribution infrastructure. For video to deliver on its business promise, organizations must have robust internal corporate networks capable of handling the traffic generated by its data-intensive format.
Recently we commissioned Wainhouse Research to update their research on the challenges faced by enterprises in distributing video within their enterprises and on the questions that arise in evaluating these solutions. Similar themes emerge such as importance of cost and network security concerns, but the ability to troubleshoot and monitor video delivery performance is also seen as critical.
Over 2,000 participants took part in the survey and this paper gives details on the specific concerns enterprises have in enabling video networking in the enterprise. The paper also describes the various options to consider when evaluating different video networking alternatives and suggests some of the questions technology managers should be asking as they consider networking alternatives, including:
