How can you get actionable insights from all of your internal virtual events, and why is it important? These indicators are a brand-new feature within Hive Video Analytics (accessed via Executive Live Event Reports) to help you track employee engagement.

Q: Why do enterprises need analytics of their internal virtual events?

Despina: It’s very important to get clarity on network performance after a virtual event. For example, you want to know:

  • Were there any Quality of Experience issues?
  • Were any specific countries affected by severe video buffering, and if so – why?
  • If you made a change to the network, you might want to understand how it impacted the virtual event

By looking at video analytics, you get a better understanding of what actually happened during the event. And this without having to ask your 1000 or 10,000 employee attendees how their experience was.

On top of understanding the streaming performance, analytics can also help track and identify employee engagement. And engagement metrics are very important to understand the impact and ROI of your virtual event.

Q: What are these new employee Engagement Indicators that we are launching?

Despina: The idea came from analyzing employee actions during virtual events, that Hive Video Analytics collects anonymously.

Since Hive Video Analytics tracks the actions of employees, the software can transform these actions into visualizations. And these visualizations help our customers understand employee engagement during their event.

Q: How can enterprises utilize the employee Engagement Indicators?

Despina: I’m really excited about the new possibilities these new modules create for improving our customers’ video communication strategy. They’ll help you:

  • Calculate the engagement score for each virtual event.

That way, you get the opportunity to compare the engagement score between different events and understand how well they performed.

  • You’re able to see how many employees are in the event, and how many of those are actually engaging.

For example, if you have 10,000 employees participating in the event, maybe just 80% of these employees were actually engaged. And you can see how this percentage changes throughout the whole period of the event.

  • You’re also able to compare engagement between employees working from home and those attending from the office.

That way, you’re able to see if the engagement is different depending on location.

  • And finally, you’re able to see how engagement goes up and down throughout the event.

Depending on the topic and streaming time of a specific event, engagement tends to vary. With the employee Engagement Indicators, you can identify which topic and what time generated peak engagement.

Q: Who will benefit from these new features?

Despina: This set of visualization is perfect for Internal Communications, Digital Workplace Managers, HR, and the C-Suite.

Through all these visualizations you can better understand the impact, and get the tools to improve your upcoming events.

Q: How did a need for these modules become clear to you and your team?

Despina: First of all, we have a lot of mature customers that wanted to go beyond network performance analytics. They wanted to understand the impact and ROI of the events.

Secondly, during the pandemic, our customers wanted to understand what happened to engagement as employees were working from home. They wanted to know:

  • If the employee engagement was the same during events
  • If employees were distracted during events and multitasked

With employee Engagement Indicators, we want to go one step further and be proactive. We want to help our customers understand, predict and improve employee engagement and create unforgettable video experiences for all their employees.
