Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence at Hive Streaming Policy

1. Purpose
Hive uses artificial intelligence ("AI") technologies to support innovation and quality across our products and services. This policy describes how Hive approaches the responsible, secure, and lawful use of AI, and how we align AI usage with our existing commitments to data protection, information security, and compliance. This policy is intended for customers, partners, and other stakeholders seeking transparency regarding Hive’s use of AI.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
-
AI-assisted features or capabilities in Hive’s products and services, where applicable (including without limitation, machine learning and generative AI); and
-
AI tools used internally by Hive employees for operational and analytical purposes related to customer and partner data as well as customer and partner support.
Hive does not develop or train general-purpose foundational language models ourselves.
3. How Hive Uses AI
Hive uses AI selectively and purposefully to:
-
Enhance product capabilities and service quality where appropriate; and
- Improve efficiency, reliability, and customer and partner experience.
AI is not used for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without appropriate human review.
4. Responsible AI Principles
Hive’s approach to AI is guided by the following principles, aligned with recognized industry frameworks:
Fairness and inclusiveness
We seek to avoid the introduction of unfair bias and to design AI usage that is respectful and inclusive. When using AI in our products and services, we aim to consider how outputs may affect different users, customers and partner groups. We ensure that AI-supported functionality does not disadvantage individuals or groups based on protected or sensitive characteristics as part of standard product and service development practices.
Reliability and safety
AI-enabled systems are used in a controlled manner and are expected to operate reliably and as intended, supported by appropriate safeguards. Hive’s security practices are aligned with recognized industry standards and supported by independent assurance, including ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.
Privacy and data protection
The use of AI at Hive is aligned with our data protection commitments, including data classification, GDPR compliance, data minimization principles, and contractual data handling obligations.
Transparency
We aim to be transparent with customers and partners regarding the use of AI in our products and services and to answer questions at ai@hivestreaming.com. Hive maintains interpretable transparency for capabilities within its products and service delivery. Where relevant and feasible, Hive can provide clear information on the key inputs, data sources, assumptions, and factors that contributed to a result or recommendation. Such explanations are designed to support customer understanding, trust, and responsible use, while protecting proprietary methods, confidential information, security controls, and commercially sensitive intellectual property.
Human oversight and accountability
AI supports human decision-making; it does not replace accountability. Hive remains responsible for its products, services, and business decisions.
5. Data Protection and Information Security
Hive does not use customer content or personal data to train third-party AI models unless explicitly agreed with the customer.
AI usage at Hive is subject to:
-
Confidentiality obligations under customer contracts;
-
Vendor due-diligence and security review processes; and
-
Applicable data protection laws and regulations.
Data shared with third-party AI service providers is limited to what is necessary for the intended purpose.
6. Use of Third‑Party AI Providers
Hive uses AI services provided by established vendors for specific internal and operational use cases. These providers are selected based on security, compliance posture, and contractual safeguards.
Hive does not grant AI vendors ownership over customer data processed on Hive’s behalf.
7. Customer Transparency and Questions
Hive is committed to addressing customer and partner questions regarding AI usage in a clear and constructive manner. Customers with specific requirements or questions relating to AI, data protection, or security are encouraged to contact their Hive representative.
8. Governance and Continuous Improvement
Hive reviews its AI usage on an ongoing basis and evolves its practices to reflect technological developments, regulatory changes, and customer expectations.
9. Changes in AI Policy
We reserve the right to change our AI-related practices, controls and governance framework as technology, regulatory requirements and customer expectations evolve. In such cases, we will amend this AI policy accordingly. Please refer to this current version, as it may be updated from time to time.
